Hi! I’m Ani. Thank you for dropping by.
It all started in 2017.
I quit my corporate job, sold 90% of my things, and bid farewell to New York, my home of 17 years. I wanted a new adventure, creativity, freedom. So, I let myself fly. To say that the ride has been WILD is to put things mildly.
To document the journey, I started a blog called wingwmn in which I reflected on everything that was happening — early retirement, minimalism, midlife dating, moving countries, aging, the choice for no-children, and breast cancer.
There will certainly be more reflections. Join me fly?
Wings, the side story:
I was thinking of a name for my blog on a flight back to New York.
As one of the very few women in my corporate job, I was often called to play wingwoman. The role included helping my colleagues meet women at bars (in the days when people still met at bars), make proper fashion choices, and shop for linens and cookware. “Wingwoman” became a nickname.
I liked the name; I thought it would be a good name for the blog. And on another level, wings also brought to mind expansion. And freedom. And winging it. Everything that my new life would be about.
Upon arrival at the airport, I noticed a trail of decals on the floor leading to baggage claim. There was my answer.
